The Answers Were Never Out There
There is so much talk about AI, to use it for this and not use it for that, and they are paralysed over what they ought to do. They feel urgency and need clarity.
I hear this from entrepreneurs constantly, and if I'm honest, I feel pulls of it myself. The noise right now is relentless. Every platform, every event, every feed is full of people telling you what you should be doing, and the more of it you consume, the more it subconsciously plants a belief you never actually chose - that the answer is somewhere out there.
It isn't.
I want to be careful here, because this is easily misunderstood. I am not saying you need to figure everything out alone, or that seeking help, coaching, community, support is somehow a weakness. I believe firmly in the opposite. What I am saying is that none of those things are the answer itself. They're tools to draw the answer out of you. The solution still has to come from inside.
The Paradox of High Performance
This is one of the strangest patterns I see in ambitious people, myself included. The more capable you are, the more susceptible you become to this exact trap, because you're used to solving things by finding the right input, the right course, the right strategy or the right tool.
You’re working overtime on strategy but ignoring the thing you really need to delve into, which is actually the psychology behind the problem.
It looks like grappling. Trying everything, getting nowhere, spinning your wheels. Or it tips into a different realm entirely, complete paralysis, because you're now juggling so many inputs that you can't move on any of them. And underneath that paralysis sits a subtle erosion of self worth, because you're not keeping up with the bar you set for yourself.
Once you notice you've been looking outside yourself for the answer, it's genuinely eye opening.
Take money as an easy example, because it's tangible. If your income hasn't moved the way you want it to, where have you been putting the responsibility for that? The market? The economy? The algorithm? Buyers not buying? It's nearly always an excuse, because for every person blaming the market, there's someone else in the exact same market crushing it.
What Actually Helps:
There's a distinction I want to draw clearly. Take a training because the knowledge genuinely matters to you. Take a certification because the skill upgrade will support the work. Don't do either because you're hoping the certificate itself will make the result happen for you. It won't. Nothing outside of you does the doing.
Once you stop outsourcing the answer, something shifts. You start trusting your own judgement. You trust the decisions you're making and the path you're on, even when it isn't fully mapped out yet. That self trust feeds self worth, and self worth feeds confidence, and the three of them build on each other.
This is the whole philosophy underneath Whole Performance and the RITCH life model I talk about often, Relationships, Inner-peace, Time, Cash, Health. None of those things get fixed by a tool. They get fixed by the human running the business deciding to trust themselves again.
Where This Goes Next:
If you're near Bournemouth on the 31st of July, I'd love for you to be in the room for my keynote, Don't Leave Your Song Unsung, at Business By The Beach.
And if this is the work you want to keep doing beyond that one day, eSCHOOL founding member rate is open at £37 a month and a limited time steel of an option £297 for a whole year! Check it out.
You hold the keys to your own success. I'd love to help you find them.
